Cypriot authorities conduct drug seizures and arrests across the country
In recent law enforcement operations, Cypriot authorities have made several significant drug-related arrests. In Paralimni, a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested after a courier package containing 3.3 kilograms of cannabis was intercepted, leading to a follow-up search where an additional 4.934 kilograms of cannabis, 280 grams of cannabis resin, three ecstasy pills, and 3,300 euros were seized. Separately, in Nicosia, a 23-year-old man was arrested after receiving a parcel containing 376 grams of cannabis on April 15. In Limassol, a 58-year-old man was arrested following the discovery of 590 preparations containing cannabinol (CBN) and cannabidiol (CBD), alongside 100 cannabis-infused chocolates found in a warehouse container. Furthermore, on April 16, authorities in Limassol seized 690 additional items including creams and supplements containing various cannabinoids. All suspects are currently facing or awaiting court hearings for detention orders. The Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and the Customs Department continue to investigate these cases.
