Death of woman in central Athens building being investigated
On the morning of April 17, a 30-year-old Ethiopian woman was found dead in an uncovered area of a building on Kolokotroni Street in central Athens. Police have detained a 45-year-old Italian tourist who had rented a short-term apartment in the same building. The two had reportedly met through a dating application. Witnesses reported hearing shouting, including phrases in English like "open up" and "I am sorry, come back," between 4:20 a.m. and 4:35 a.m. Both the suspect and the victim were found with facial scratches. Authorities are currently investigating two main scenarios: whether the woman fell accidentally or whether she was pushed while attempting to flee a confrontation. Reports differ on whether she fell from the third or fourth floor, with some sources noting she may have climbed to the fourth floor before breaking a window and falling. Forensic examinations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
