Police arrest two suspects for burglaries in Protaras

Police arrested a 30-year-old and a 51-year-old man at Paphos airport on Thursday afternoon as they attempted to leave Cyprus. The arrests follow a complaint by a 37-year-old man reporting a burglary at his Protaras home, where cash and two pairs of AirPods valued at 900 euros were stolen. Authorities successfully tracked the suspects using the GPS signal emitted by the stolen AirPods in Ayia Napa. The two men are linked to four burglary cases reported in Protaras between April 14 and 16. Furthermore, police stated that the 51-year-old suspect is involved in ten additional nighttime burglaries committed in Paralimni during 2023 and 2025. The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Famagusta District Court on Friday for a remand hearing. The Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department is continuing the investigation. Some reports incorrectly cite the year 2026 for the Protaras burglaries, while official police statements specify the dates as April 14–16.
