Anti-corruption authority closes investigation into fire service recruitment
The Independent Anti-Corruption Authority has officially terminated the investigation into an anonymous complaint regarding recruitment practices at the Fire Service. The complaint alleged that hiring was based on predetermined gender quotas. Additionally, the complainant claimed that a candidate experienced unequal treatment during athletic testing. The Authority concluded that the claims regarding unequal treatment during the physical exam were hypothetical, general, and vague, lacking sufficient evidence. Regarding the allegations of predetermined quotas, the Authority stated that procedures for filling public positions are subject to review by the Administrative Court. It further noted that claims involving potential gender discrimination should be examined by the Labour Disputes Court under the 2002 Law on Equal Treatment of Men and Women in Employment and Vocational Training. Consequently, no further action will be taken by the Anti-Corruption Authority on this matter. The announcement was made in compliance with personal data protection laws.
