Exhumation of Sophie Narme conducted in cold case investigation linked to Dominique Pelicot

French authorities exhumed the remains of 23-year-old real estate agent Sophie Narme on April 14, 2025, to conduct further forensic analysis regarding her 1991 murder. Narme was found dead in an apartment in Paris's 19th arrondissement in December 1991 after going to show the property to clients. The exhumation was authorized by the Versailles Court of Appeal on November 7, 2024, following requests from the legal team of Dominique Pelicot. Pelicot, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in December 2024 for crimes committed against his wife, is a suspect in this unsolved case due to similarities in his modus operandi and a 1999 attempted rape case involving another real estate agent where he was linked via DNA. Beatrice Zavarro, Pelicot's lawyer, stated that she hopes the results will exonerate her client. Florence Rault, representing the victim's family, noted that the investigation is now awaiting forensic outcomes. This case remains one of two cold cases for which Pelicot is currently under investigation.
