Eurostat releases long-term population projections for Cyprus and the EU
Data published by Eurostat on Thursday outlines demographic trends for Cyprus and the European Union. Cyprus's population is estimated at 982,966 in 2025, an increase from 966,365 in 2024. The population is projected to grow steadily, reaching 1,044,946 in 2030, 1,077,349 in 2035, and 1,119,385 by 2045. A peak of approximately 1,145,542 residents is expected around 2060. Following this peak, the population is forecast to decline gradually to 1,043,335 by 2100. In contrast, the European Union's population, currently estimated at 451.8 million for 2025, is expected to peak at 453.3 million in 2029. Long-term forecasts for the EU suggest a decline of 11.7% by the end of the century, settling at approximately 398.8 million.
