Ongoing investigation into the fatal building collapse in Germasogeia, Limassol

Authorities in Limassol are currently working to identify the second victim of a fatal incident that occurred on Holy Saturday in Germasogeia. The investigation, led by CID Limassol, is utilizing DNA and fingerprint analysis to confirm the identity of the individual, who is believed to be from an Eastern European country. Preliminary findings indicate the victim had reserved the apartment through Booking.com shortly before the tragedy. The building is privately owned but managed by a third-party company; investigators intend to interview the company manager in the coming days. Forensic pathologist Nikolas Charalambous confirmed that both the second victim and the other identified victim, a 27-year-old Nigerian man, died from crush syndrome. A memorial gathering is scheduled for the upcoming Saturday at 7 pm outside the building. Participants intend to leave flowers and candles to commemorate both victims. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains open.
