Paphos Chamber of Commerce participates in OliveOilMedNet meeting in Corsica
The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in a three-day meeting in Bastia, Corsica, as part of the OliveOilMedNet project. The event focused on enhancing cooperation, sharing best practices, and exchanging technical knowledge regarding olive oil production. Key discussion points included quality control, chemical analysis, and methodologies for identifying olive oil varieties. Participants visited local mills to observe production processes and apply technical insights. The meeting resulted in the establishment of the Mediterranean Olive Oil Network, comprising 31 member organizations. The OliveOilMedNet project, funded by the Interreg Euro-Med 2021-2027 program, aims to promote sustainability and competitive olive oil production. It specifically focuses on machine learning for certifying the authenticity and geographical origin of extra virgin olive oils. The project also addresses territorial challenges while encouraging eco-friendly cultivation practices.
