Ministry of Interior launches public consultation on petrol station licensing bills

The Cyprus Ministry of Interior has initiated a public consultation process regarding two legislative amendments titled 'The Regulation of Petrol Stations (Amendment) Law of 2026' and 'The Communities (Amendment) Law of 2026'. These proposals aim to establish a clear and distinct framework of responsibilities between Provincial Self-Government Organizations and local authorities. The legislation specifically addresses the licensing, construction, reconstruction, demolition, addition, conversion, and repair of petrol stations. Interested parties are invited to submit their feedback electronically via the 'e-Consultation' platform. The deadline for submitting comments is Friday, May 15, 2026. This initiative is designed to resolve administrative overlaps in the oversight of fuel station infrastructure. No further legislative changes have been announced at this time.
