Toyota unveils CUE7 basketball robot
Toyota has unveiled the CUE7, an AI-powered humanoid robot measuring 2.19 meters in height. The demonstration took place at the Toyota Arena in Tokyo, Japan. The robot is designed for basketball, showing improvements in movement, ball handling, and shooting accuracy compared to previous versions. According to project lead Tomohiro Nomi, the robot utilizes new AI technology and physics-based simulations to learn complex movements. This training method allows the robot to acquire skills in one minute that would take a human approximately one year to learn. The CUE7 is scheduled to make a public appearance during a halftime show at a B.League basketball game. The redesign represents a significant update to the CUE project, aimed at overcoming limitations found in earlier iterations.
