Four dogs poisoned in Dali, Cyprus

Between August 16 and August 17, 2025, four dogs died due to poisoned bait in the Dali district of Nicosia, Cyprus. One of the dog owners, Andria Kyriakou, reported that her nine-year-old dog, Lilly, died within minutes of ingesting the substance in her yard on August 17. The owner noted that the poison was found near her four-year-old child's toys, posing a severe risk to humans. Police arrived at the scene, documented the incidents, and collected CCTV footage that allegedly showed a suspect. While authorities searched a suspect's home in October 2025, the victim reports that no charges or punishments have been issued as of April 2026. The owner also filed an additional official complaint on January 25, 2026, but states she has received no significant updates on the investigation. Authorities initially stated a post-mortem examination would be performed on one of the deceased animals to confirm the cause of death.
