Police in Paphos arrest woman for burglary and hold two others for arson-related crimes
A 37-year-old woman was arrested in Geroskipou, Paphos, after being caught by a 57-year-old warehouse owner during an attempted burglary. Police recovered tools, a knife, a wooden club, and a tablet from her vehicle. The Paphos District Court ordered her to be detained for four days pending further investigation by the Paphos CID. Separately, authorities in Cyprus are investigating a series of arson attacks involving a 19-year-old Syrian national and a 41-year-old woman. The suspects, who were remanded for eight days, are linked to twelve offenses, including conspiracy and money laundering. Investigations suggest the 19-year-old received payment for an arson incident in Paphos. Authorities are also examining potential connections between these individuals and organized criminal groups operating from inside central prisons. The investigation into the 37-year-old burglary suspect and the broader arson inquiry remain ongoing.
