Inflation at 0.5% in January

According to the Statistical Service, inflation rose by 0.5% in January 2026. The Consumer Price Index decreased to 99.98 units, down from 100.28 in December 2025. Compared to January 2025, agricultural products saw the largest increase (8.2%), while electricity, water (-6.5%) and petroleum products (-6.1%) experienced the largest decreases. The most significant impact on the CPI change compared to January 2025 was from food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.53) and restaurants and accommodation services (0.52). Compared to December 2025, fresh vegetables showed the largest positive impact (0.50) and clothing the largest negative (-0.58) on the CPI.
