Temu partners with Cyprus waste management organizations for EPR compliance
E-commerce platform Temu has signed agreements with three Cypriot Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) to ensure compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations. The partners are Green Dot Cyprus for packaging, A.F.I.S. Cyprus for batteries, and WEEE Cyprus for electrical and electronic equipment. These agreements are intended to assist third-party sellers on the platform in meeting their environmental obligations in Cyprus and across the European Union. According to Ioanna Konstantinidou of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, this initiative demonstrates how digital marketplaces can effectively implement environmental compliance requirements. Temu states it has now established similar partnerships with more than 30 authorized organizations across the EU. Marios Vrachimis, General Manager of Green Dot Cyprus, noted that such collaborations provide a framework for international platforms to manage waste obligations. The project covers packaging, battery waste, and electronic waste management.
