Guillermo Hoyos appointed as interim head coach of Inter Miami following Mascherano's resignation

Javier Mascherano has resigned as the head coach of Inter Miami due to personal reasons, as announced by the club on Tuesday, April 14. Appointed in November 2024, Mascherano led the team to its first MLS Cup victory and the Eastern Conference title. Under his guidance, the team set a league record with 101 goals scored across the regular season and playoffs. Mascherano also managed the team during their campaign in the FIFA Club World Cup, becoming the first MLS club to reach the knockout stages. Guillermo Hoyos, who previously served as the director of player development at Inter Miami, will take over as interim head coach. Hoyos, 62, has an extensive coaching background in Greece, including stints with Anorthosis, Aris, Atromitos, PAS Giannina, Panserraikos, and Iraklis. The club has not provided a timeline for a permanent replacement.
