April rainfall in Cyprus exceeds monthly average within ten days

According to the Department of Meteorology, rainfall in Cyprus during the first ten days of April 2026 reached 127% of the normal monthly average. Between April 1 and April 10, the island recorded an average of 37.9mm of rainfall, significantly higher than the usual monthly norm of 29.9mm. Data indicates that precipitation was widespread, as only four regions failed to surpass 100% of their typical April levels. The highest cumulative rainfall during this period was measured at Stavros tis Psokas with 57.2mm, followed by Prodromos at 53.6mm, Platania at 51.9mm, and Pano Panagia at 47.9mm. During the 24-hour period between April 9 and 10, the average rainfall reached 2.0mm. Stavros tis Psokas also recorded the highest daily rainfall for that window at 8.5mm. Meteorological authorities continue to monitor the situation as the month progresses.
