Author Makarios Drousiotis accuses Cypriot officials of corruption
On April 14, journalist Makarios Drousiotis published allegations claiming that President Nikos Christodoulides acts as an enforcer for an entity he calls the "Brotherhood." Drousiotis asserts that former President Nikos Anastasiades handpicked Christodoulides to serve as a fixer for communications with the late Andreas Vgenopoulos. The author claims that the "Brotherhood" retains significant influence within the Presidential Palace. Drousiotis further alleges that the Police, under Chief Themistos Arnautis, are conducting a sham investigation into the Focus case to cover up corruption. He contends that authorities and the Legal Service have suppressed evidence by labeling messages as forged. Conversely, the President, the Legal Service, and the "Brotherhood" have officially dismissed these claims as fabrications. Drousiotis maintains that law enforcement is currently targeting whistleblowers instead of investigating the suspected corrupt individuals.
