Lufthansa pilots initiate 48-hour strike disrupting flight schedules
Pilots at Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, and CityLine have launched a 48-hour strike beginning at midnight, following a call from the Vereinigung Cockpit union. This action marks the fourth round of industrial disputes this year regarding negotiations for a new collective labor agreement. Pilots at Eurowings are also participating in a one-day strike as part of these demonstrations. Flights to the Middle East have been excluded from the strike action due to the current regional instability. The industrial action follows a separate 24-hour strike by cabin crew that took place on Friday, which resulted in significant flight cancellations and delays, particularly at Frankfurt Airport. Passengers are advised to expect ongoing cancellations and delays throughout Monday and Tuesday. While reports indicate varying levels of disruption, the strike remains a primary factor in the current flight schedule volatility.
