Bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires

On July 18, 1994, at 9:53 a.m., a suicide bombing occurred at 633 Pasteur Street in Buenos Aires, targeting the AMIA Jewish community center. A van reportedly containing 275 kilograms of explosives was detonated, causing the building to collapse. The attack resulted in the deaths of 85 people and left approximately 300 individuals wounded. Investigators and various reports have attributed the planning and execution of the attack to Iran and Hezbollah. This incident followed a 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires. Official allegations suggest the motivation behind the attack was related to Argentina's refusal to proceed with the transfer of nuclear technology to Iran.
