Suspect arrested for the murder of a 64-year-old man in Thessaloniki
On Holy Saturday, the body of a 64-year-old man was discovered in a creek among reeds in Efkarpia, Thessaloniki. Initial local reports suggested a possible sudden death due to health issues, but an investigation was launched after a head wound was identified. Police have since arrested a male suspect, who reportedly has mobility issues and confessed to killing the victim with a concrete block before attempting to hide the body in the ravine. The investigation is being handled by the Homicide Department to determine the motive behind the attack. The suspect is expected to be brought before the Thessaloniki Public Prosecutor on charges of homicide. Conflicting initial reports regarding the cause of death have been resolved by the suspect's confession. The case is distinct from an unrelated incident in Stavroupoli where a 37-year-old man was arrested for injuring a 20-year-old with broken glass.
