Death of 64-year-old man in Thessaloniki creek under investigation
On Holy Saturday, April 11, the body of a 64-year-old man was discovered in a creek in Thessaloniki, Greece. The man lived in a nearby makeshift shelter and reportedly suffered from health issues that restricted his mobility. Authorities initially considered the possibility of a sudden natural death, but the discovery of a head injury has complicated the investigation. A medical examiner is currently evaluating whether the trauma resulted from an accidental fall or criminal activity. Furthermore, a team from the Northern Greece Organized Crime Division has been dispatched to the scene to assist with the inquiry. While some early reports suggested a potential hate crime due to the nature of the injury, law enforcement is currently treating the death as an open case pending forensic results.
