Plans submitted for 25 million euro renovation of Antonis Papadopoulos stadium
A modernization plan for the Anorthosis Famagusta football club stadium, 'Antonis Papadopoulos', has been submitted to the Department of Environment. The project, with an estimated cost of 25 million euros, includes structural interventions to the stands and upgraded parking facilities. Implementation is scheduled for the period 2027–2030, pending receipt of all necessary regulatory permits and approvals. This initiative was initiated in January 2025 when President Nikos Christodoulides announced that the state would fund the project. Subsequently, in August 2025, the president of the Cyprus Sports Organization included provisions for this stadium, along with the 'Ammochostos' and Ethnikos Achnas stadiums, in the 2026–2028 budget. Coordination meetings involving the Cyprus Sports Organization and the Stadium Licensing Committee have been held to address the technical requirements of the refugee clubs. The project aims to bring the facilities in line with modern safety and functional standards.
