Good Friday observances held across Cyprus

On Good Friday, religious communities across Cyprus marked the culmination of Holy Week with traditional observances. In the mountain village of Kathikas, residents and visitors participated in a procession reenacting the path of Jesus to Golgotha. The 500-meter route began at the Chapel of Saint Onoufrios and concluded at the Church of Panagia Evangelistria. Deputy Mayor Charalambos Phylaktou noted a record-breaking attendance, while Mayor Marinos Lambrou highlighted the importance of preserving such cultural traditions. Government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis was also present to observe the event. Meanwhile, in churches throughout the island, congregations decorated epitaphios structures with flowers to honor the day. This tradition involved both adults and children, emphasizing community and spiritual unity.
