Series of fires reported across Cyprus during the weekend

Emergency services responded to several fire incidents across Cyprus between April 11 and April 12, 2026. On Saturday, a vacant building in Softades, Larnaca, sustained extensive damage from a fire of unknown origin. Early Sunday, two residential fires occurred in Kato Polemidia and Livadia, both caused by unattended candles on kitchen counters. In the Livadia incident, two residents were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, while in Kato Polemidia, residents evacuated safely. Additionally, a vehicle owned by a 24-year-old was damaged in an apparent arson attack in Limassol on Saturday night. Finally, fire crews extinguished a blaze at an abandoned house in Limassol, which was triggered by burning waste. No fatalities were reported across these incidents.
