Epitaph procession and meeting held in Nicosia
On Good Friday, the Nicosia Municipality and three local churches—Panagia Faneromeni, Archangelos Michail Trypiotis, and Agios Savvas—conducted their annual joint Epitaph procession. Following the tour through the walled city, the three separate Epitaphs met at the bridge of Eleftheria Square at 21:30. The event was led by the clergy and church committees, with state, municipal, and military officials in attendance. Bishop Nikodemos of Nitria, Exarch of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa in Cyprus, presided over the gathering. During the procession, the Epitaph of Panagia Faneromeni was carried by the Cypriot Reserve Commandos Association, accompanied by the Cyprus Police Philharmonic and the 76th Scout Troop of Strovolos. The Epitaph of Archangelos Michail Trypiotis was accompanied by the 40th Scout Troop of Engomi and the 71st Scout Troop band, while the Epitaph of Agios Savvas was joined by the 107th Scout Troop of Lykavittos. Hundreds of believers attended the ceremony, which took place in a somber atmosphere marking the culmination of the Holy Week passion.
