Fatal fire in a residential building in Patras
A 92-year-old woman died in a fire that broke out on the fifth floor of an apartment building at the intersection of Asimaki Fotila and Panahaikou streets in Patras on Good Friday afternoon. The fire caused thick smoke that spread throughout the building, complicating the evacuation of other residents. The victim's domestic helper, who was in the apartment at the time, escaped but sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. A young child living on a different floor was also taken to the hospital suffering from respiratory issues caused by smoke inhalation. The fire department responded with 15 firefighters and 5 vehicles to contain the blaze. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. The domestic helper's condition is reported as stable and not life-threatening. The incident resulted in significant alarm among the building's occupants.
