Cypriot sailor Natasa Lappa prepares for upcoming Grand Slam in France
Cypriot sailor Natasa Lappa is conducting intensive training sessions in Limassol, Cyprus, ahead of her participation in the second World Sailing Grand Slam of the year, which takes place in Hyeres during the final week of April. Lappa is scheduled to depart for France on April 18. She is training alongside Brianna Orams, a New Zealand-born athlete with an American passport, who is aiming for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Lappa, a two-time Olympian having competed in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, recently trained with Italian athlete Livia Passoni. In the first Grand Slam of the year held last week in Mallorca, Lappa qualified for the Gold Fleet and secured a career-best 32nd place in a World Sailing top-tier event. This result follows her consistent qualification for the Gold Fleet in the previous two European and World Championships. Lappa expressed satisfaction with her progress and top-10 finishes, though she intends to improve her performance in the final races of upcoming competitions.
