President Christodoulides delivers Easter message addressing national and political issues

President Nikos Christodoulides delivered his annual Easter message on Holy Saturday, combining religious reflection with political commentary. He emphasized the importance of unity and responsibility, urging the nation to avoid populism and toxicity in governance. Regarding the Cyprus problem, the President reiterated that the Greek Cypriot side will not compromise with the ongoing occupation following the 1974 Turkish invasion. He stated that the government remains committed to resuming negotiations based on the agreed UN framework and European Union principles. The President acknowledged that Easter celebrations are overshadowed by the island's division, as the bells will not ring in occupied areas. Meanwhile, leaders of political parties and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEBE) also issued messages, calling for social solidarity and economic resilience. These leaders highlighted the necessity of institutional stability and collective effort for the country's progress. The messages underscored a shared vision for a secure, reunited, and prosperous nation.
