Omonia Nicosia faces transfer ban amid legal dispute with Jesper Jansson
The Cyprus Football Association's (CFA) Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) has imposed a registration and transfer ban on Omonia Nicosia. This decision stems from a legal dispute involving former technical director Jesper Jansson, for whom the committee ruled in favor of a financial payment. Omonia has appealed this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), arguing that the proceedings in Cyprus were biased. The club alleges a conflict of interest, noting that the law firm representing Jansson has also served as a legal advisor to the CFA. Furthermore, Omonia reports receiving a deadline of April 15 from Jansson's legal representatives, who have threatened to file for the club's dissolution if the ordered payment is not made. Omonia maintains that the DRC's enforcement of penalties while the appeal is pending at the CAS is unjust. The club has publicly criticized the process as lacking the guarantees of a fair trial.
