Omonia fc alleges conflict of interest in jesper jansson dispute with cfa

Omonia FC has publicly challenged the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) and its Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) regarding the legal case of former sports director Jesper Jansson. The club alleges a conflict of interest, noting that Jansson's legal representatives, the law firm of Chris Triantafyllides, have also served as legal advisors to the CFA and its former president, Giorgos Koumas. Omonia claims the DRC process lacked the safeguards for a fair trial and notes that Jansson chose the local DRC over FIFA for his grievance. On April 8, the DRC imposed a transfer ban and a 10,000 euro fine on Omonia for failing to pay Jansson the awarded amount of 300,310 euros. The club asserts that these measures are premature as an appeal is currently pending before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Furthermore, Omonia reports that the law firm representing Jansson has issued a deadline of April 15, threatening to initiate dissolution proceedings against the club for alleged non-payment of debts. Omonia characterizes the actions of the committee and the legal firm as coercive and part of an unfair institutional process.
