Omonia faces transfer ban and legal threats in dispute with Jesper Jansson
Omonia Nicosia is currently embroiled in a legal conflict with its former sporting director, Jesper Jansson, following a ruling by the Cyprus Football Association's (KOP) Dispute Resolution Committee. The committee ordered Omonia to pay Jansson 300,310 euros and imposed a transfer ban on the club. Omonia has appealed this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The club alleges a conflict of interest, claiming that Jansson's legal representative, the law firm of Chris Triantafyllides, acts as a consultant for KOP. Omonia further claims that the law firm has threatened the club with a dissolution application if the payment is not made by April 15. In response, Omonia maintains that it has set aside the disputed amount in a separate account to demonstrate its financial readiness while awaiting the final verdict. The club has also criticized the disciplinary processes of the KOP as unfair and biased.
