Plans for ten new solar parks in Cyprus move to public consultation

Ten new solar power plants with a total capacity of 26.7 MW are currently in the planning stage across Cyprus. Environmental impact assessments for these projects have been completed and are now open for public consultation. Some of the facilities are designed to include energy storage systems. The proposed locations include Avdellero (1.43 MW), Kornos (3.8 MW), Milia in Paphos (1.547 MW), Agia Varvara (1.20 MW), Pachna (2.5 MW), Anogyra (1.5 MW), Lania (2 MW), Dromolaxia (2.76 MW), Tersefanou (2 MW), and Tseri (7.99 MW). The largest project, located in Tseri, covers 90,497 square meters. These installations are being developed on lands that often fall within agricultural zones, a point of contention previously raised by the Cypriot Parliament. While some stakeholders express concern over the loss of agricultural land, others emphasize the positive energy benefits of the projects.
