Cypriot travel patterns and pricing for the Easter period
Antonis Orthodoxou, spokesperson for the Association of Travel Agents, reported that travel bookings from Cyprus for the Easter period are consistent with last year's levels. Although early projections indicated a strong increase in bookings, the geopolitical instability in the Middle East led to a subsequent slowdown. Greece remains the primary destination, accounting for 90% of bookings, followed by Paris, London, and to a lesser extent, Georgia and Armenia. Despite concerns regarding rising fuel costs, most airlines have not implemented fuel surcharges, keeping ticket prices largely stable. Travel packages for the period from Holy Thursday to the Tuesday after Easter start at 399 euros. Flights to Greece are currently reported as fully booked. The overall sentiment in the travel market is described as satisfactory despite the regional tensions.
