Aphrodite half marathon to be held in Polis Chrysochous
The second annual Aphrodite Half Marathon is scheduled for April 19 in the municipality of Polis Chrysochous. The event program features a half marathon, a 10-kilometer race, a 5-kilometer race, and a 1-kilometer children's race. Organizers report that registrations have surpassed 1,000, exceeding last year's record of 650, with expectations of over 1,300 runners in total. Over 250 international participants have signed up, mainly from the United Kingdom, as well as Germany, France, Hungary, Poland, Austria, and Belgium. The race is under the auspices of President Nikos Christodoulides, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, is expected to attend the opening. Mayor Giotis Papachristofi stated that the local authority aims to establish the event as a permanent annual fixture to boost local tourism. Deputy Mayor Patroklos Evangelou confirmed that the committee views this as a key reference point for the region's sports development.
