Antonis Georgallides passes away at 65
Antonis Georgallides, the chairman of the Technical Committee and former General Director of KOEAS, passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 65. He died at the Nicosia General Hospital following a five-and-a-half-year battle with cancer, having been diagnosed in September 2020. Georgallides served KOEAS for approximately 40 years, including 14 years as General Director. He was a former champion in sprint events and held multiple Cypriot and Panhellenic records. KOEAS President Periklis Markaris expressed his condolences, noting their long-standing professional collaboration. The federation has announced that funeral arrangements will be disclosed in the near future. He is survived by his wife, Katia, and his children.
