Cyprus Blood Center organizes emergency blood drives for Easter holiday period
The Cyprus Blood Center has announced emergency blood donation sessions to be held on Good Friday to ensure sufficient reserves throughout the Easter holidays. According to center official Giannakis Andreou, these sessions aim to accommodate donors who were previously unable to attend due to work commitments. In Nicosia, donation stations will operate at the Egkomi Blood Center from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at the Mall of Cyprus from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In Limassol, the General Hospital blood center will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., while in Larnaca, the facility in the new wing of the General Hospital will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mr. Andreou confirmed that all scheduled blood transfusions have been covered, and supplies are secured until Easter Monday. The center successfully addressed increased demand for recent transplants through targeted mobilization efforts, including outreach to returning university students. Authorities reported a satisfactory response from blood donors during this pre-holiday period.
