Production details of the 1977 television miniseries Jesus of Nazareth
The miniseries 'Jesus of Nazareth', directed by Franco Zeffirelli and starring Robert Powell, was released in 1977. It was a joint production between the Italian broadcaster RAI and the British network ITV. Filming took place in Morocco and Tunisia from September 1975 to May 1976. The project was initially filmed as a 371-minute movie before being formatted into a series. With a budget of approximately 18 million dollars at the time, equivalent to over 100 million dollars today, it was considered a major production. The cast featured notable actors including Anne Bancroft, Christopher Plummer, Anthony Quinn, and Laurence Olivier.
