European commission addresses natural gas supply outlook for winter

A European Commission official stated that there is currently no risk to natural gas supply and reserves within the European Union. However, authorities anticipate potential long-term consequences related to the energy crisis. Member states have been advised to begin preparations for the upcoming winter season immediately. The commission explicitly requested that all member states ensure their gas storage facilities are filled to 80% capacity by November. Officials emphasized that early replenishment is essential to avoid market volatility and logistical pressures during the late summer months. While the current supply status is described as stable, the commission maintains that the energy crisis is a protracted issue requiring strategic planning. The guidance was provided following a meeting of the European Commission's gas coordination group.
