APOEL FC announces contract extensions for three young academy players
APOEL FC has officially announced the contract extensions for three young players developed through its academy system: Panagiotis Kattirtzis, Konstantinos Poursaitidis, and Stelios Vrontis. All three players have signed agreements valid until May 2029. Panagiotis Kattirtzis (born 12/04/2006) was previously awarded the title of the league's best young player by the Cyprus Football Association in May 2025. Konstantinos Poursaitidis (born 24/01/2006) has recorded 12 appearances for the club, including nine in the league and three in the cup, providing two assists. Stelios Vrontis (born 05/11/2004) is currently on loan to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Fayha, with his loan spell scheduled to conclude in June 2026. These extensions are part of a strategic shift by the club to prioritize the development of local young talent, reportedly aimed at navigating financial challenges and reducing long-term budget expenditures. The club's management also indicated that discussions regarding potential future extensions for other players, such as Nikolas Koutsakos, are ongoing.
