Holy Light to arrive in Cyprus from Jerusalem on Holy Saturday

The Holy Light is scheduled to arrive in Cyprus from Jerusalem on the afternoon of Holy Saturday. An Aegean Airlines flight, using an Airbus A320, is expected to land at Larnaca International Airport at 17:00, departing from Tel Aviv. Representatives of the Exarchate of the Holy Sepulchre in Cyprus will accompany the light to facilitate its distribution to churches across the island. Despite initial uncertainty regarding the transport due to regional conflict, the Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, confirmed the mission will proceed. He expressed official gratitude to the Greek government and Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis for their cooperation in securing the transfer. Following a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, security measures at holy sites in Jerusalem have been adjusted, allowing for the reopening of sacred locations to worshippers. If transport had been impossible, theologians noted that the light could have been sourced from church lamps, but the official transport remains confirmed.
