Cyprus football association imposes fines for match-fixing and disciplinary violations
Aristotelis Vryonides, the sports judge of the Cyprus Football Association (KOP), has found the football club Ayia Napa guilty of match-fixing related to their March 18, 2026, match against Karmiotissa. The decision was based on a UEFA report citing suspicious betting activity, specifically concerning the outcome of the first half and the number of goals scored. Ayia Napa has been fined 50,000 euros for this infraction. Separately, the sports judge issued fines to Anorthosis Mouttagiakas and THOI Lakatamias for inappropriate behavior during third-division matches on March 28, 2026. Additionally, several U-19 youth league matches were decided via administrative forfeit with a 3-0 scoreline due to failure to play or interruptions. These matches involved APEA Akrotiri, Kornos FC 2013, Omonia Aradippou, Kedros Agia Marina Skylouras, P.O. Achyronas Onisillos, Aspis Pyla, and AEP Polemidion.
