Paphos authorities introduce remote-controlled lifebuoy for maritime rescues

The Paphos Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) has donated a high-tech remote-controlled lifebuoy to the Municipality of Paphos. The equipment was officially presented at the Municipal Baths beach in Kato Paphos. Designed to assist lifeguards, the electric-powered device can travel up to five times faster than a champion swimmer. It has an operational range of approximately 800 meters and an estimated battery life of 50 minutes. This is the second such unit delivered in the region, with the first already in use at another beach and a third currently under discussion for a different municipality. The cost of the equipment is approximately 4,500 euros. The initiative aims to improve rescue response times and support sustainable management of coastal infrastructure.
