Cyprus announces 2026 Cultural Decentralization grant program with increased budget

The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus has announced the 2026 Cultural Decentralization grant program. The program aims to support free cultural events in rural communities with a total budget of 400,000 euros, marking a significant increase from previous years. Historical funding included 172,000 euros for 44 events in 2023, 276,000 euros for 73 events in 2024, and 287,000 euros for 72 events in 2025. The 2026 program expands the scope to include repeat productions, workshops, and walking tours to encourage intergenerational participation and support vulnerable groups. Eligibility has been extended to include Community Service Complexes. Additionally, projects planned for mountainous, remote, or fire-affected areas will receive priority scoring to address social needs.
