Update on APOEL stadium project and financial initiatives
APOEL spokesperson Nektarios Petevinos confirmed that the project to build a private stadium for the club remains ongoing, with a dedicated company led by Agis Metaxas established to oversee it. The initiative continues to be supported by a 13-million-euro donation from the family of the late Dinos Iordanou. Petevinos stated that the delay in the stadium project is caused by bureaucratic procedures involving the Cyprus Football Association and government ministries. Additionally, the club is engaged in a long-term financial campaign and recently received a donation from the family of Ouranios Ioannidis. A new management committee is overseeing financial operations, including efforts to involve fans through a share-based model. Petevinos also expressed concern regarding the quality of refereeing in recent matches, specifically questioning decision-making even after VAR reviews. He emphasized that the club remains committed to addressing both its infrastructure and competitive challenges.
