Apollon football club hosts autistic children during a match

On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, observed on April 2, the football club Apollon held a social initiative during its match against AEK. Children from the Autism Association entered the pitch carrying a banner that read 'Light It Up Blue – April 2 World Autism Awareness Day'. Before the game, the children visited the stadium facilities and met with Apollon players Josef Kvinda, Gaetan Weissbeck, Danilo Spoljaric, and Clinton Duodu. One child, Giorgos, celebrated his birthday during the event and accompanied a player onto the field. While the official club report states the event occurred at the match against AEK, other reports identify the specific date of the activity as Sunday, April 5, 2026. The families were hosted in the stands alongside the children to promote inclusion and support for those on the autism spectrum. This initiative is part of a series of social outreach programs organized by the club to increase public awareness regarding autism.
