Giorgos Frangos publishes study on contemporary Turkish Cypriot literature
Greek Cypriot author and critic Giorgos Frangos has released a new study titled 'I Agnosti pou mas moiazei' (The Unknown Woman Who Resembles Us). This work serves as a systematic analysis of contemporary Turkish Cypriot literature intended for a Greek-speaking audience. It profiles 33 authors through an examination of 22 different literary publications, with a primary focus on younger generations and modern poetic and prose forms. The study explores the shared history, landscape, and human experiences that connect Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot literature. It aims to bridge cultural gaps by highlighting common themes such as peace and empathy while resisting nationalist narratives. Academic Niyazi Kizilyurek has formally praised the work for its careful and dedicated preparation. This publication acts as both a critical overview and a gesture toward mutual recognition between the two communities. It is intended to serve as a resource for readers, educators, and scholars of Cypriot literature.
