Recall expansion for Philips steam generator irons due to safety risks
The Department of Electromechanical Services has announced an expansion of the recall for Philips series PSG8XXX and GC96XX steam generator irons, initially reported in November 2024. Versuni Netherlands B.V., the licensee of the Philips brand, initiated this measure due to non-compliance with the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). The products contain a manufacturing defect in the steam boiler weld, which may cause steam leakage and pose a risk of burns or related injuries to users. The recall applies specifically to units produced during weeks 19 through 41 of 2024, identified by date codes 2419 to 2441. Affected model numbers include PSG8130/80, PSG8040/60, GC9635/20, GC9650/80, GC9660/30, and GC9682/80. Consumers are advised to check the type number and date code on the label located at the base of their device. If a product matches these specifications, it is considered part of the recall scope. Users should verify their devices to ensure compliance with these updated safety standards.
