Iran claims missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabian petrochemical facilities

On Tuesday, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had launched medium-range missiles and suicide drones against petrochemical complexes in the Saudi Arabian city of Jubail. The IRGC stated these actions were a response to alleged aggression against Iranian facilities in Asaluyeh. Reported targets include the Sadara complex and facilities linked to ExxonMobil, although reports regarding specific impact locations remain conflicting. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence reported that its air defences intercepted seven ballistic missiles targeting the kingdom's eastern region, noting that debris fell near energy facilities. While the IRGC claimed direct hits, Saudi authorities and companies such as Aramco and SABIC have not confirmed damage to specific infrastructure. Discrepancies exist in the IRGC's report, as they mentioned facilities in Juaymah that may not exist under the claimed ownership.
