Greek Patriot missile system intercepts drone in Saudi Arabia
On the early morning of April 6, 2026, a Greek Patriot missile battery stationed in Saudi Arabia intercepted and destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This operation was conducted by the Hellenic Force in Saudi Arabia (ELDYSA) as part of the international 'Integrated Air Missile Defense (IAMD) Concept' initiative. The Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) confirmed that the engagement followed established Rules of Engagement protocols. While current reports focus on the UAV interception, previous reports from mid-March 2026 mentioned that the same Greek unit had reportedly intercepted two Iranian-made ballistic missiles. The battery remains operational and continues its defensive mission in the region. There are no reports of casualties or damage following the incident.
