Turkish ruling party spokesperson criticizes EU support for Cyprus

Omer Celik, spokesperson for Turkey's ruling AKP, stated that recent security support provided to the Republic of Cyprus increases regional tension. In a television interview with A Haber, Celik criticized the deployment of foreign naval vessels to support the Cypriot government. He argued that the cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and Israel exposes inconsistencies within the European Union. Furthermore, he questioned the EU's ability to act as a cohesive security force. Celik specifically challenged France's involvement in the region, labeling it as ineffective. He also accused the Republic of Cyprus of contradiction by maintaining a security agreement with Israel while the EU condemns Israeli actions in Gaza. The spokesperson concluded that the EU lacks the authority to effectively manage or influence regional events.
